The original Captain Party store opened in 1998 and is now under the ownership of Sherri Hopkins. Sherri purchased the store in February 2008 after retiring as an Air Force Officer and moving to the Outer Banks in October 2007.

After 20 years in the military, Sherri had not yet decided what she wanted to do when she grew up! So, when the opportunity arose to buy the Captain Party store, Sherri took it!

When asked how she likes owning and running the only party store on the Outer Banks, Sherri says, "It's like Christmas every week, when new products arrive. And almost everyone who comes in is in a good mood!"

Although Sherri was new at retail, she was able to achieve unprecendented growth the first year. In celebration of this success, on March 13th 2009 Captain Party was promoted to Major Party!

In February 2012, Major Party launched thier "local" online store to serve its customers from Hatteras to Coralla and beyond.  You can now shop from home and pick-up your items at the store on the same day.  

Sherri is proud to be a member of the Outer Banks business community and dedicated to providing products that just aren't available at the bigger, chain outlets!
